Components of LED Frame Molds

In general, there are two main types of LED frame molds: two-plate molds (commonly known as large gate molds) and three-plate molds (commonly known as fine gate molds). Regardless of whether it is a two-plate mold or a three-plate mold, LED frame molds typically consist of the following components:

1. Mold Base

The mold base forms the fundamental framework of the LED frame mold. The quality of the steel used in the mold base ensures the longevity and stability of the mold during production.

2. Core Parts of the LED Frame Mold: Cavity and Core

The main cavity and core of the LED frame mold, commonly referred to as the mold insert or inner mold, are the most crucial components of the mold. Most of the design work focuses on the mold insert, which undergoes extensive machining. Some simpler molds may not have a separate mold insert, with the product forming directly on the template, especially in early LED frame molds. This structure has largely been phased out

3. Auxiliary Parts of the LED Frame Molds

Auxiliary parts include positioning rings, sprue bushings, ejector pins (commonly known as ejection pins or ejector needles), pull rods (commonly known as material-pulling pins), support columns, ejector plate guide pins and bushings, and support pins (commonly known as waste pins).

4. Auxiliary Systems of the Mold

Typically, LED frame molds have the following three systems: gating system, ejection system, and cooling system. Sometimes, if the plastic material requires a high heating temperature, the mold may also include a heating system.

5. Core Pulling Mechanism

If the LED frame mold needs to form side holes or hooks on the plastic product, the mold must include one or more mechanisms to handle the demolding of these holes or hooks, such as sliders, angled ejector rods, or hydraulic cylinders. These mechanisms are known as side core-pulling mechanisms.
